Livingston Youth and Community Services (LYCS) is a community based after-school program that teaches leadership skills, healthy choices and life skills to Grades 3-12 in Livingston school district.
Mission & Goals
The mission of LYCS is to reduce the early onset of substance abuse and provide healthy alternative activites for Livingston Youth.
The primary goals are:
- To Train leaders for Livingston’s Future
- Have Livingston’s youth make healthier life choices
- Increase the level of education and knowledge about substance abuse
- Provide opportunities for Livingston youth to engage in healthy social recreation
Our curriculum is developmentally age appropriate. LYCS is comprised of three separate age groupings:
- Leaders (Grade 3-5)
- Peer Leaders (Grades 6-8)
- Peer to Peer (Grades 9-12)
Classes start in October and run to May with an End of Year Party and Award Ceremony in June. In addition, LYCS provides opportunities for family socials, parties, special events, and parent education. Registration dues are $55. Scholarships are available to cover the registration fee through the Township of Livingston.
LYCS is program of the Township of Livingston: Department of Senior, Youth and Community Services and is funded in part by the Livingston Municipal Alliance Committee (LMAC).
