Livingston 9-11 Memorial Website
Call for Submissions: Livingston 9-11 Memorial tribute is a website that will honor the heroes of Sept 11, 2001, and the memory of those who perished in the terrorist attack. Livingston residents, students, parents, teachers, and staff are invited to submit poems, photos, artwork, creative writing, video, audio, etc…. to be published online. Please email your submissions to lycs@livingstonnj.org. This website will be launched in September 2012. New submissions will be accepted throughout the year. Submission of materials signifies permission to publish with appropriate credits. Please do not submit copyrighted material, only original material that you have created. Registration is OPEN for 2012-2013 LYCS After-school Programs
Registration is now OPEN for 2012 – 2013 LYCS After-school Programs. All programs start in October and run through May, with End of Year parties in June.
Elementary programs (Gr. 1 – 2 Young Leaders and Gr. 3-5 Leaders) meet at their school 2:30 – 3:30 pm, once a month.
Grade 1 and Grade 2 Young Leaders: Fee $70
Students are taught social, emotional, and leadership skills in a fun, educational program that is age appropriate. The program includes topics on making friends, self-esteem, communication and listening skills. Snacks are provided.
Leaders – Grades 3-5: Fee $70
This is a fun, educational program that addresses different topics each month and includes recreation time. Students are taught different skills including listening, communication, self-esteem, responsibility, respect and teamwork. Snacks are provided.
Evening Programs (Grade 5 Leaders Club, Peer Leaders, and Peer to Peer) meet at Monmouth Court Community Center (26 Monmouth Ct), 5:30-7:00 pm, once a month.
Grade 5 Leaders Club: Fee $70
There is a core curriculum and students choose additional topics of interest to them. Pizza and refreshments are provided. Recreation takes place in the game room at Monmouth Court.
Peer Leaders Club – Grades 6-8: Fee $70
Students choose topics of interest to them, Adopt-a-Charity at the beginning of the school year, and have an End of Year Party at Funplex. Pizza and refreshments are provided. Recreation takes place in the game room at Monmouth Court.
Peer to Peer – Grades 9-12: Fee $70
Peer to Peer is a student-led leadership program committed to an ATOD-free lifestyle (Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs). Students decide topics of interest, community service, and have an opportunity to participate in cross-age teaching, leadership training, and weekend at Camp Bernie (dates TBA). Pizza and refreshments are provided.

May 25 Snow Day Give-back reschedule
The Board of Education will be closing schools on May 25 as a Snow Day Give-back.
Please note that LYCS Leaders Collins Gr 4 has been rescheduled for Monday, May 14 (2:25-3:40 pm), and Hillside Gr 4 is rescheduled to Tuesday, May 29 (2:25-3:40 pm).
Sunday Feb 12 LYCS Leaders Family Social
Join us for a LYCS Leaders Family Social on Sunday, February 12, 1:30-3:30 at Monmouth Court Community Center (26 Monmouth Ct).
Food and Refreshments, Music and Games!
Open to LYCS Leaders and their siblings. Parents/Guardians have the option of volunteering on the day, socializing or dropping off their child(ren) for pick-up at 3:30 pm. We ask that if the child is younger than Grade 3 that a parent/guardian stay and supervise them for safety reasons.
RSVP by Feb 9: lycs@livingstonnj.org so I know how many pizzas to order.
If you want to bring in VALENTINE KISSES for Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter (e.g., food/gifts for our furry, or feathered friends) we will be collecting them at the Sunday Social.
Change in Schedule
Due to conflicts with Winter Concerts, the following club meeting dates have changed to:
Peer Leaders (Grs 6-8), Wednesday, January 25
Grade 5 Leaders Club, Thursday, January 26
Both club meetings are at Monmouth Court Community Center (26 Monmouth Ct) at 5:30-7:00 pm
